MONTAÑA DE MICO QUEMADO, EN HONDURAS

Ubicación Geogràfica: Esta situada en la jurisdicción de los municipios de El Progreso, Santa Rita y El Negrito, en el Departamento de Yoro.

It is located west of the Department of Yoro, are the mountains located to the eastern front of the city of progress. It is bounded by the Ulua River Valley or west Sula, on the south Humuya by Olomo Valley Cuyamapa drained by the River to the east and the River tributary Guaymas Toloa Lagoon to the north. At its southern end is coupled with the mountain of Sulaco, ends near the port of Tela municipality where it is called Shark. The municipality of El Progreso depends largely on proper maintenance of the ecosystem of high water production and has springs and underground wells supplying water to the inhabitants of the city and surrounding communities.
In the Cordillera Mico Quemado there is a protected area by Order # 144-94 of the Sovereign National Congress of the Republic of Honduras as an ecological reserve the amount of 28.500 hectares. The Cordillera Mico Quemado has a large number of biodiversity of flora and fauna, these species are unique in the country, with a beautiful view on the Valle de Sula and the city of Progreso, Yoro, Honduras.
